Research at Kampala University

Research at KU is at the apex of the University’s long-term strategic plan, aiming to be a leading research-intensive university in Uganda. Equally important is the University’s international visibility and the impact of its research and innovation on socio-economic development in East Africa and North East Africa. KU therefore deliberately balances its focus on research and innovation and the partnerships fostered by creating an environment that is conducive to scholarly pursuits. A wide range of research and professional areas underscores the strength of KU in research and postgraduate education.

The Department of Research plays an enabling role in Kampala University’s vision to be recognized in Africa and the whole world. It fulfils its role by integrating people, resources and opportunities that make it possible for researchers, at every stage of their career, to develop and excel. From accessing funding and supporting emerging researchers, through to contract writing and the protection of intellectual property. The Department of Research provides a creative and supportive environment in which researchers at KU, and from across East Africa, the region and the international research community, can contribute to the impact of research on the well-being of society.
