Kampala University To Host The Regional Climate Dialogue

Kampala University-(KU) and Islamic University in Uganda-(IUIU) together with the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) and with support of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), have organize a two-days high level dialogue aiming at bringing Women experts from Research and Academic Institutions in fields related to Agriculture and/or climate change from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, IsDB-Member countries in the region, and from Institutions like Makerere University and National Agricultural Research Organization-NARO.

This strategic dialogue will take place at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala-Uganda, from 20th – 21st November 2023 with a panel discussion on Climate Change and Women in Agriculture: Challenges and opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa Region.

The panelists for this powerful and high profile conference will include but not limited to, Owek.Amb.Al-haj Prof.Badru Kateregga-Vice-Chancellor Kampala University , Prof.Ismael Gyagenda Ssimbwa Rector- IUIU,  Dr. Tarifa Alzaabi- Director General ICBA , Dr. Charbel Tarraf- Chief Operations and Development ICBA , Dr. Issahaq Umar Iddrisu- Regional Head, Regional Hub Kampala- Islamic Development Bank , Dr. Wardah M Rajab-Gyagenda Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Research Innovation and Internationalisation- Kampala University , Ms. Nour El Jundi- Proposal Development Specialist ICBA , Ms. Maha Gaad Gender Consultant- ICBA.

Topics to be discussed on include; Gender equality and women's empowerment in the agricultural sector, the role of women in leadership and decision-making in agricultural and environmental initiatives, innovative technologies in agriculture and their potential for climate mitigation, Impact of climate change on food systems and household nutrition security, the role of capacity-building activities in empowering women in agriculture and climate adaptation.
