Rotary Club of Kampala-Munyonyo Awards Kampala University Vice-Chancellor
It was a glitzy and exuberant moment at the Las Vegas Hotel in Bunga-Kawuka on Monday 22nd January 2024 when the Rotary Club of Kampala-Munyonyo appreciated Owek.Amb.Al-Haj Prof Badru D Kateregga the founding Vice-Chancellor of Kampala University Original with a Vocational Community Service Award for his outstanding contribution and philanthropical service delivery to humanity.
A well-selected and unbiased jury took some weeks before the event and figured out a person who has immensely supported humanity, a person who has been there for the sake of others, a person who used his passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects for good of mankind. Many individuals with good and rich CVs were thought about, but the outstanding one was the Man of 50 Tittles who also doubles as the Chief Scout of Uganda (Prof Badru D Kateregga).
Prof. Kateregga has lived an exemplary life, his dedication, commitment and contributions to humanity through selfless service in Education, Youth, inspiration, Bursary provision, and global employment creation speak volumes and make him a very unique Man, the President RC Kampala Munyonyo Rn Sophie N Bugembe said.
In his submission, the jubilant Professor accepted the award with zeal and gratitude, “this moment is so amazing, the award is a motivating spirit for all our activities as Kampala University and the Badru Dungu Kateregga (BDK) Universities’ Network International where I am the Chairman Board of Trustees, by getting such physical rewards they make us move with more dedication and focused intentions to get the dreams into reality and prosperity in all the endeavours” Prof appreciated.
He advised that in life it is good to put God first in everything we do, and also to have a character of integrity which is built by discipline and consistency.
He added that to make it in life, one has to have positive thinking that helps an individual change his /her life. Learn to think big, this will help you live big.
On the occasion, he was accompanied by his Gracious wife Mrs.Jolly S. Kateregga, some members of his Family and some of the Kampala University Staff.
The Rotary Club of Kampala-Munyonyo requested Prof. Kateregga to be an Honorary member of the Group and he happily accepted.
In attendance, was also the Deputy Speaker of Buganda Kingdom great Lukiiko Owek.Ahamed Lwasa a Senior Member RC Kampala -Munyonyo.
Prof. Kateregga is the Founding Vice-Chancellor of Kampala University and all its five Campuses, he is the Founder of The East African University based in Kitengela-Nairobi Kenya and the Founder of East African University Rwanda.
